Waterford Labour TD Ciara Conway chose magnificent Lismore Castle as the venue for her wedding over Christmas, as she married her long-term boyfriend, Gary Honer.
The couple wed in a low-key event last weekend, described as a spiritualist ceremony. The 33-year-old TD wore a full length white gown and veil.
After the ceremony in Lismore Castle the couple and their guests, including Tanaiste Eamon Gilmore and Minister for Social Protection, Joan Burton, moved to the Park Hotel in Dungarvan for the wedding reception.
Deputy Conway is one of the Dail’s youngest sitting TDs. Her new husband is a Labour colleague and local election candidate, running in the Crumlin-Kimmage ward in Dublin.
TWEETING THANKS
Despite the stormy conditions on the day, they managed to pose for wedding photographs outside the castle when the weather settled for a time. Afterwards the bride Tweeted: “Thanks a million for all good wishes and to all those who battled the elements to be with us. We had a ball.”
Deputy Conway said her 11-year-old daughter Aeva-May’s involvement in the wedding made it “extra magical.”
