The close bonds that exists between children and grandparents was celebrated in Kilmagner National School on Thursday, April 10th with the hosting of Grandparent's Day.
Pupils put on an impressive display for their elders, all of whom were impressed by the facilities available to students at this progressive school. Judging by the reaction of young people in Kilmagner NS, the grandchild/grandparent relationship is a very positive one with grandparents taking a keen interest in all their grandchildren. Visits to a grandparent's house is eagerly anticipated and of course there's always the possibility of a financial reward on special occasions.
Thursday last was a special occasion for everyone associated with Kilmagner National School and grandparents were made feel very welcome. Principal, Noreen Joyce and her staff looked after everyone really well and for most it was a unique opportunity to experience 'a day in the life' of their grandchild and get a feel for the modern teaching environment.
Reaction to the day was entirely positive and grannies and grandads departed impressed by the efforts of teachers to provide every student with vital academic and social skills that will serve them well on their journey through second and third level education.
