One of the region's first vintage road runs took place last Sunday when Rathcormac Vintage Club organised a run in aid of The Alzheimer Society.
The event received great support from neighbouring vintage clubs, especially Carraig-na-bhFear Vintage Club who were very well represented. It was cold but dry for the 22 mile run which attracted some magnificently preserved vehicles - mostly cars and tractors.
As is the norm for Rathcormac Vintage Club, this fundraiser was very well marshalled and everyone got back safe and sound. The Rathcormac Inn, who've had a close association with the club over the years, provided refreshments following the event and this was much appreciated.
The Myrtle Forde Perpetual Cup is awarded to the 'best turned out' vehicle and on this occasion the man who impressed the judges was Ken Nagle from Killavullen in his immaculately restored 1971 Triumph Stag. Tom Hallahan presented the cup to Ken. There was also a draw for a meal voucher sponsored by The Rathcormac Inn and this was won by Paddy Cronin from Kildinan.
Rathcormac Vintage Club has a great record when it comes to assisting good causes and in the near future, representatives from The Alzheimer Society will receive proceeds from the run. Well done to everyone who took part or assisted in any way.
