Former Scoil Pól student Eimear Weeks from Kilfinane, has been awarded a UL 40 Scholarship. Eimear completed her Leaving Cert in her local school last summer and got 565 points - she was one of the students with the highest points in the school. She is currently studying French and Business in the University of Limerick.

The principal of Scoil Pól Mike O'Hara, congratulated Eimear, saying that she did very well in her Leaving Cert and deserved the scholarship.

The UL 40 Scholarship was established to mark the 40 year anniversary of the university in 2012 when 40 entrance scholarships to the value of €2,000 were awarded. In the first year, students were selected for the scholarship randomly with the only condition being that they must not have received any other entrance scholarship from UL. As the scholarship progressed, it was modified so that students would be chosen on the basis of their performance in the Leaving Cert.
