U16 B hurling league v Newmarket

Overall it was a very spirited game of hurling by two hungry teams fighting for glory, so well done lads on a fine result and to Newmarket for a fine sporting game.

Glanworth 1-12 Newmarket 2-5

On a very wet and windy Monday evening in Glanworth our U16 hurlers took on Newmarket in the first of our league games. It was tough going for both teams as the wind was taking the sliotar in all directions. As a team playing together it showed in the result.

Our ever courageous backline of Paul Kiely, James Kiely and Jerome Fitzgibbon worked their guts out and cleared some massive balls, which usually landed in the hands of John O’Sullivan, Stevie Condon, Jack Blackburn or Eric Hanrahan. These lads did trojan work through the centre of the field and pulled of some mighty scores.

It was a fair physical encounter with both teams working their hearts out in the wet and windy conditions. Liam Foley, Mike Blackburn and Jack Coughlan were a fighting force in the half back line, there were many clashes of the hurl in a very exciting game. Aidan Walsh, Ciaran Murphy and Haulie Murphy were the lads upfront and they showed some great game playing and spirit. Alas not forgetting our man between the posts Brendan Sheehan who pulled off some superb saves.

Overall it was a very spirited game of hurling by two hungry teams fighting for glory, so well done lads on a fine result and to Newmarket for a fine sporting game.

U14 C FOOTBALL LEAGUE v BALLYHOOLY (postponed due to injury)

Our U14 footballers only played twenty minutes of the game as our courageous goalie Cillian Hannon pulled off a great save sending the ball for a 45, but as a result of this Cillian put his knee out, so a big hearty get well soon to you Cillian. Thanks to the Ballyhooly mentors for waiting around with us until the ambulance arrived and to Jerry Birmingham and his colleague for their expert care with Cillian.

U12 FOOTBALL CHALLENGE v KILLAVULLEN

Saturday evening last we headed to Killavullen for a practice game. It was a great run out for our boys as it was our first game of the year, although our opponents were much the better side we were happy with our trying spirit. Thanks to Killavullen for a great game.

CONDOLENCE

Our condolences go out to the Dwane family, Kildorrery and Shanballymore on their recent bereavement.
