Two sons follow in Fermoy man’s footsteps in America

Mossie Coughlan, native of Fermoy, has been a captain in Middlesex Jail and House of Corrections Prison in Billerica, Massachusetts for the past 10 years, starting out as a prison officer almost 19 years ago.

Last week his son Liam followed in Mossie’s footsteps and was sworn in as a corrections officer after completing the gruelling 12 week course.

Liam will now begin a year’s probationary period. Mossie’s other son Brendan, was sworn in as a corrections officer just over a year ago and has only very recently completed his probationary period.
