A traffic calming build-out scheme to reduce lane width, is proposed for the Glanworth Road in Kildorrery, the Fermoy Electoral area committee of Cork County Council was advised on Tuesday.

Senior engineer Brendan O’Gorman, said the build-out would be positioned opposite the school and GAA field. The works would be done under the council’s 2014 Draft Low Cost Accident Schemes for non-national roads.

He was responding to a motion tabled by Chairman Kevin O’Keeffe calling for ‘reduced speed’ signs to be put in place for traffic exiting the village onto the Fermoy road. The engineer said the proposed works would remove specific risks to pedestrians by providing better facilities for them. The draft proposal is subject to funding being secured from the NRA.
