The Three Counties Motorcycle Club this week handed over a cheque for €3,222 to Aid Cancer Treatment (ACT) from the proceeds of their ninth annual Jack Murphy Memorial Run.

At the weekend, chairman of the club, Patsy Cahill presented the cheque to Bernice Ryan and Patricia McCarthy of ACT.

The run was a real community effort, raising money for a very worthy cause. ACT is a completely voluntary organisation in Cork, which aims to help those diagnosed with cancer in very practical ways.

What they do includes contributing to cancer research to help advance treatment methods to hopefully one day reach a cure, refurbishing and redecorating the wards and waiting areas where cancer patients spend most of their time and helping to fund the latest equipment to treat cancer.

The club members would like to thank those from Mitchelstown and surrounding areas who supported their run this year, the local fire brigade, Meg and Tim Luddy of Supermacs Mitchelstown, Hodgins Sausages, Clonakilty Puddings, Chris from The Glocca Maura Inn, everyone who supported the run and Colm Baker, Helen Cahill and Rose and Siobhan O’Keeffe who collected on the day of the run.
