The Mobile Pub is now on the move as part of the Limerick City of Culture programme of events.

The first event involving the mobile pub took place with the Southill Men’s Shed Group on Friday, July 4.

The event was organised by the Mobile Pub group to show their appreciation to the members of the Men’s shed, who converted the unit, originally a windows showroom, into a mobile pub.

This was the first time the men were able to engage with the City of Culture programme and gave them an opportunity to meet up, relax and reflect on their hard work.

The pub, which is being renamed at every new location, took on the name ‘The Dew Drop Inn’ for the night and was parked in a yard near the entrance of the University of Limerick.

Here the men were able to enjoy a barbeque, play some cards and sing a few songs.

The mobile pub also visited Hospital on July 10, where events included a community walk around the town in association with Hospital Family Resource Centre, Hospital Men’s Shed Group and Hospital Tidy Town’s Committee.

There are plenty more upcoming events in the area as part of the Limerick City of Culture programme, including a Traditional Singing Session taking place in Galbally on Thursday, July 31.

The event will take place at Tigh Roy, Ionad Cultura, Galbally, at 8pm.

Admission is free, but due to the small capacity of the event it would be ideal to get an idea of the number attending, so if you are planning to come along, please text Aileen at 087-7552593.
