The Church Blues Club back at Saint George’s Mitchelstown

With their debut show on July 1st being such a great success, you’ll be in for another real treat on Friday, September 9th when The Church Blues Club returns to again to Saint George’s Arts & Heritage Centre in Mitchelstown.

Ireland’s newest blues club – The Church Blues Club have adopted Saint George’s as their spiritual home, and a fine home it is indeed!

The Church Blues Club welcomes their house blues band, along with two more amazing special guests, singer/songwriters and solo guitarists each with a style all of their own. Firstly you will be introduced to young Louis Butler from Cork city, followed by singer/songwriter Kevin Quigley – each will captivate you with their unique styles and dedication to their music.

Dublin born Gerry Quigley & his band The Mystic Blues Band will be next on stage, just returned home from headlining three festival shows in Monaghan the weekend before, and will be ready to rock! Gerry and his band will show us how versatile they are, with no two shows ever exactly the same.

GERRY QUIGLEY & THE MYSTIC BLUES BAND

From a standing ovation after a jaw dropping performance at Perth Concert Hall, Western Australia, to a spine tingling performance at the Great British Rock & Blues Festival or playing on the floor in his favourite pubs – with Gerry Quigley and his band every show is just as important and special as the last. On Friday, September 9th at Saint Georges, you’ll see Gerry and his amazing band pumping out their own signature style of spine-tingling blues and blues-rock originals along with blues classics Quigley style.

Best described as blues-inspired progressive rock with a mystical magical Celtic feel, Gerry and his band will at times entrance you and take you away to another world. You’ll hear Gerry play an eclectic collection of guitars and things with strings a selection of guitars, mandolin and more, including some seriously mad sounds from his one of a kind double-neck mandola/bouzouki named Shaun and Sheila! Including a few great new tunes!

If you love all the blues and progressive rock guitar greats, you will love this show. One thing is for certain, on September 9th at Saint George’s Mitchelstown you’ll be in for a real treat!

LOUIS BUTLER

Louis Butler, a talented young guitarist, singer and songwriter based in Cork city. Louis’ style has been likened to that of Nick Drake, Tony Rice, Iron & Wine, and Richard Thompson, with complex guitar and vocal compositions that blend traditional folk, indie and bluegrass, Louis is no stranger to hard rock, blues, and progressive rock.

KEVIN QUIGLEY

Kevin Quigley is a solo guitarist and singer/songwriter. Since a young teen, Kevin made a choice to dedicate his life to his craft as a songwriter and performer. With a desire to keep his music as varied as possible, Kevin has developed a very unique sound. He has a dedicated following throughout his years of gigging and performing all around Ireland and Europe.

Kevin’s original songs holds recurring themes of hope, desire, love and struggle. Fans can expect stories and tales of the human heart in conflict within itself. About the mind, the spirit and the journeys of self-discovery.
