"Aren't the nights drawing in" - not an unusual comment at this time of year and one that has been quoted since time immemorial. The 'closing in' of the year is a time when people turn their thoughts to different activities. It is (or at lease should be) a time for taking on some new task or other, joining a group or taking in a show or film on a more regular basis.

Over the coming weeks, you will be open to a host of suggestions - join the card game, take up knitting, join a drama group, take music lessons, go to night classes, lose weight, go back to college etc., - the list is endless.

Keeping the mind active and taking on the challenge has huge benefits both for our physical and mental health. So whether you simply make a pledge to renew old acquaintances, go back to college or learn a new skill, take it on with gusto. You could even start with taking in a Heritage Day event this Saturday! Best of luck!
