The Avondhu 35 years going strong

We in the Avondhu are very proud to state that we have just reached our 35th birthday.

We in the Avondhu are very proud to state that we have just reached our 35th birthday. In what has been a long and exciting journey (from an eight page A4 newsletter back then to a 96 page tabloid this week), we would like to thank all our very loyal readers, advertisers, contributors and staff who have accompanied us or have been involved in any capacity along the way.

In that time, we have built up a loyal weekly readership as we strive to be the best at what we do for readers and advertisers alike. Despite being stormed by 'social media' over the past number of years, we still believe the local newspaper to be, by far, the best vehicle for local news and promotions and we are equally proud to state that The Avondhu enjoys the biggest local readership in our circulation area.

In the present economic climate, the newspaper industry is faced with serious challenges. We in The Avondhu fully realise we must be prepared to face those challenges if we are to ensure our survival for another 35 years and beyond. We are ready for the battle - just bring it on!
