Cara to headline ‘An Evening of Song’ in Fermoy
Two hundred and fifty happy people headed to The Firgrove Hotel on Saturday evening, February 14th, for the biggest night of the year in their hectic calendar, the annual old style social.
Such big crowds at an event like that are now a thing of the past but not at the Park, it acts like a magnet pulling people from near and far.
You might ask why part of the answer lies in the night that followed. It was just brilliant, the atmosphere was electric with everybody out to enjoy and have a good time. As one well known lady put it 'It was theraputic' for people meeting up with old friends from all the trips, the chat, the sharing of experiences and the companionship.
Of course the top class meal served up by John and staff at the hotel helped as did the outstanding music song and dance played by the Mulcahy band of Dave and Tony. Thank you lads and thanks to the hotel.
Of course like any function its the people themselves that really make it. Those there Saturday night never left the floor and stayed there till the small hours.
There was great applaude when one very special lady entered the hall namely Nora Finn of Demesne. Nora suffered a very serious accident over ten weeks ago and there was great delight all round that she was well enough to be there on such a big night. Well done Nora!
The class of 99 were there in strength as usual. This year there was a big contingent from Fermoy headed by John O'Mahony who brought the Park to the final of the over 60s competition last May. They received a huge welcome from all present.
The following is a list of those who were lucky in the raffle, Joe Fitzgerald, Helen Hartnett, Paul Mulcahy, Martina O'Brien, Marie Buckley, Mary Carroll, Bridget Fitzgerald, Ann Buckley and Sinead Luddy.
