Super Middleweight title – and a belt! – for Belujsky

Mitchelstown’s ‘Big Bad Vlad’ is home with a bang and a belt, having snatched the Global Boxing Council’s super middleweight global title in Berlin over the weekend.

Vladimir Belujsky, weighing in at 75.5kg, took on Georgia’s Davit Makaradze, at 76.3kg in the Columbia Club, Berlin on Sunday night. 

The win opens the door for some bigger fights for the 25-year old. Flying back home on Monday, Vladimir spoke to The Avondhu about his hard-won victory, and having something to put on the mantlepiece!

“I’m more relieved than anything else – I finally got a belt! Finally, I have something to show people!”
