The annual premier sale by the Irish Angus Cattle Society was held in Kilmallock on Saturday last, April 6. Once again, it was a resounding success, thanks to the many farmers who supported the sale as always.

Top prices of up to €4,000, €3,300 and €3,000 respectively were achieved for bulls on the day with an average of 80% clearance with an average price of €2,350.

Champion went to the famous Cahirmee herd of Richard and the late Mary Smith. A minute’s silence was held prior to the sale in the show ring as a mark of respect for Mary who passed away earlier this year. Mary was a stalwart of the organisation at both Munster and national level and will be a great loss to both the breed and the breeders alike.

Unfortunately, due to unforeseen circumstances, the Munster branch sale in Fermoy on this Friday (12th) has had to be cancelled.

Once again, the breeders of the Munster branch of the Irish Angus Cattle Society would like to thank the farmers who tirelessly support our sales and help make the breed what it is today – going from strength to strength.
