The Construction Industry Federation (CIF) recently welcomed the Taoiseach Micheál Martin and EU Commissioner Michael McGrath to their Southern Construct Summit, hosted in the Clayton Silversprings Hotel, Cork.

Themed ‘Elevating Cork’, discussions focussed on funding Cork’s infrastructure, housing, innovation in construction and Cork’s digital future.

Joanne Treacy, CIF Director Southern Region welcomed the announcement that the M28 is progressing with contracts now signed, and also the Respond announcement of 218 new homes in Jacobs Island.

“Cork needs targeted strategic infrastructure investment and delivery, vital for attracting investment and driving regional growth. This week has seen a number of steps forward on housing and infrastructure, and the CIF welcomes these developments and is focused on building momentum for this Region, as a true economic counterweight to Dublin,” she said.
