The storm which lashed the region with gale-force winds of up to 130 kilometres per hour last Wednesday night, brought down power lines in the Ballyduff and Glencairn areas of west Waterford.

As a result residents were affected by power outages from 7.30pm on Wednesday night. While power was restored to some areas by 1am the next morning, in other parts it took until 1pm on Thursday before power returned.

A couple of large trees on the Ballyduff to Lismore road were also casualties of the worst winds felt in the area for many years, coming down at the wooded area The Towers.
