Very Pink Run, Breast Cancer Ireland’s largest annual fundraising event, has seen 86,500 participants from over 40 countries take part since its inception, raising over €6.6m for ground breaking breast cancer research. The event, which was launched on the grounds of MTU in Cork, returns once again in 2024 in both a physical and a ‘virtual’ sense at an earlier date this year, with the live events planned to run in Dublin, Cork and Kilkenny from 31st August – 8th September 2024.

A large group of very well-known faces from the worlds of Sports, Media, the Arts, and Showbiz have already joined this year’s ‘Very Pink Tribe’ including author Cathy Kelly, who is herself recovering from breast cancer, RTE’s Meghann Scully and James Butler, FM104’s Thomas Crosse and Zeinab Elguzouli, and Virgin Media’s Elaine Crowley, and Kamal Ibrahim, alongside sports stars Josh van der Flier, Robbie Henshaw, Shane Byrne, Jamie Finn & Hannah Tyrell. Also lending their wholehearted support to the cause are Lorraine Keane, Bobby Kerr, and Miss Ireland Jasmine Gerhardt along with well-known Corkonians Dr Monica Oikeh, and Lesley Giltinan, of LeanWithLesley fame.

In the lead up to, and during the three live events, these Very Pink Run Ambassadors will join the many thousands of families who have been impacted by the disease in this country as they pound the pavements and parks of Ireland, and overseas, in support of the cause…. proving that every step taken.. is a giant leap towards new breast cancer treatments.

Participants can take part by running, jogging or walking, in one of three live large-scale physical events, taking place in the grounds of MTU Cork on 8th September (12 noon 5k and 12.45 10k), and in Dublin at Leopardstown Race Course on the earlier date of 31st August, and The Watershed in Kilkenny, on Sunday, 1st September. Alternatively, people can also take part in a ‘virtual’ sense in their own local communities any time between 31st August and 8th September inclusively.

The Breast Cancer Ireland Very Pink Run events are a fun filled, family focussed and inclusive day out, where everyone is welcome, with no upper or lower age limits. The live events are aimed at casual strollers, keen walkers, joggers and seasoned runners alike, over a 5k or 10k distance, are open to families, friends and solo participants (and their canine or human support squads!). They offer a fun, family festival style outing with music, games and children’s entertainment.

Registrations for the event, sponsored by Very (Ireland’s leading online retailer), are now open on www.verypinkrun.ie
