This week was another special one for Mitchelstown, as people from the town celebrated St Fanahan's Day, to mark the legacy of the town's patron saint.

Every year, people from the community pay homage to St Fanahan on November 25 with a pilgrimage to the holy well in the town. Young and old gathered at the well from when the annual novena started on November 17.

This tradition has been carried on down through the generations and many people believe that the well has great healing powers, while others appreciate how the community spirit in the town comes alive on days like St Fanahan's Day when people come together to pay tribute to their patron saint.
