A student of St Colman's College in Fermoy set out recently to recreate the iconic Beatles 'Abbey Road' cover photograph from the famous album of the same name as a means of reflecting the ethos of 'Friendship and Wellbeing Week' organised by the college.

The event was organised by the college's guidance department. Mindful of the importance of individuality and inclusivity among students, they wanted the week to be as comprehensive as possible to cater for students of all ages and school years.

Colmanites were asked to take part in a 'selfie' photo competition organised by Guidance Councillor Mr. Franks. Their remit was to create a photo, dubbed a 'Welfie' which would focus on the aim of the week.

Senior student Ed Mullins had the prizewinning entry with his photo 'Ed it be', a parody on the famous album cover from the 1960s. The modern day interpretation was taken by Ed at the Clancy Street pedestrian crossing in Fermoy and features a student from each year in St. Colman's emulating the original poses and mannerisms. A modern classic, without doubt.
