Issues with speeding on the main street in Castlelyons (L1518) have been highlighted by a local resident who, having purchased a radar gun online, claims he has recorded a top speed of 106kph in a 50km zone opposite the Berry Hill estate in the village.
The resident, who does not wish to be named, said he undertook a survey over a period of five months from July to November, with speeds being monitored within a half hour to one hour time slots.
“The estate is full of children, so it’s quite dangerous for cars to be speeding in that area,” he told The Avondhu.
