Soccer hero, Stephen, achieves another goal

After the washout that was last Saturday, St. Patrick’s Day dawned clear and bright over the town of Fermoy. This was all great news for parade organisers, who, once again, oversaw another hugely successful event on the banks of the Blackwater. 

Special Olympics gold medal winner and Team Ireland captain in 2023, prolific goalscorer Stephen O’Leary, had the honour of leading the parade, which took the traditional route from Cork Road to Lower Patrick Street. According to local man Stephen, it was a wonderful honour to be selected as grand marshal. 

“I’ve been really looking forward to it, everyone has been wishing me well. It’s a special occasion for myself, but also for my family, who have been so supportive to me during my sporting career,” he said.
