Local volunteers beavering away in a warehouse in Fermoy this week, preparing the filled shoeboxes for shipment as part of the Team Hope Annual Shoebox Appeal which sees the filled boxes sent to needy children in eastern Europe.

November 11th was the closing date for receipt of shoeboxes for the annual Team Hope Christmas Shoebox Appeal but organisers locally say they will still take them from anyone who'd like to donate.

Filled boxes can be left in at Toss Bryan's in Fermoy, SuperValu Mitchelstown, the Discount Store or the Ozanam Centre until this Saturday, November 16th. Anyone who'd like to leave them in directly to the warehouse and go along and see the fantastic work being done by local people for needy chiildren in eastern Europe is welcomed and that can be arranged by phoning Christine on 087-2514099 or Margaret on 086-1744350.

"A very big thank you to all you, men, women and children, the Fermoy warehouse is almost snowed under and they're still coming in," one of the busy local organisers told The Avondhu.

By the weekend of November 22nd, it is hoped to have all the boxes checked and ready to go. We'll update readers on how many boxes were sent and to which countries in a future edition.
