There was one important thing to be done before the male staff at Shaws in Fermoy could take part in the national Movember campaign to raise awareness and funds for prostate and testicular cancer and mental health. Long serving staff member John Condon had to shave off the beard he's had for the last 33 years, so that he could turn around and grow it back again for the month of November along with his work colleagues who have also agreed to grow moustaches and beards.

Local barber Anthony Kelly did the honours at the store last Friday morning, divesting John of the facial hair he'd sprouted since 1980, allowing shoppers at the Patrick Street department store to see more of him than usual!

Joining him in the venture are John Langford, Sean Shanahan, James Lacey, Kenneth Condon, Liam Whelan and Taran Kelly who are all hoping to raise funds, and awareness for the worthwhile initiative.
