Shantelle to represent Ireland at World Taekwondo Championships

Shantelle Sheehan will represent Ireland at the Taekwondo World Championships in October.

Doneraile student Shantelle Sheehan has been named in the Ireland Taekwondo squad for the 2017 World Taekwondo Championships, which will be hosted for the first time in Ireland this October.

Shantelle, a first-degree black belt, turned 16 last week, but already has a huge amount of experience at this level of competition.

Earlier this year, she won bronze in the European Championships in Bulgaria and was a silver medalist at the Dutch Open.

She was a winner of the Sports and Leisure Award two years running and was the youngest athlete to win ‘best junior competitor’ in Taekwondo winning three gold medals and two silver medals in just one day.
