There was a festive themed treat in store for the people of Shanballymore and surrounding areas recently, as a past pupil of Shanballymore National School came back to his home village for a Christmas cookery demo.
Great crowds turned out for the night, with over 150 people in attendance and with a cheese and wine reception, there was a lovely relaxed atmosphere to get people into the swing of the yuletide cheer.
SCHOOL IMPROVEMENTS
All money raised on the night is going towards the school's improvement and development plan and principal Michael O'Sullivan thanked everyone who attended and supported the night. Also, not forgetting the local restaurants and business people who donated some wonderful prizes for the raffle.
On the night, Pat who is an award winning chef with his own restaurants, prepared a number of dishes which were very easy to prepare, but also something that people might not usually cook. "The dishes were different but simple," Michael said, adding that people went away with some great ideas about how to bring a gourmet taste to their festive meal.
The cookery demonstration also gave Pat, who now lives in West Cork, the chance to meet up with a lot of people he hadn't seen in years. He had a reunion with some of his former classmates and was presented with a class photo from his time in the school during the 1980s.
