School decorations raises the hackles

Fermoy’s Bishop Murphy school has been out with creative and to be frank, scary decorations and adornments, but one in particular has been deemed to be in poor taste.

Skeletons clawing their way out of graves, rats lurking around every corner, terrifying ghouls and the grim reaper poised and ready to strike - the scene outside Bishop Murphy Memorial School in Fermoy was giving pedestrians, commuters and passers-by quite the shock this week, as the school prepare for their big Hallowe’en event this weekend.

As part of the lead up to the ‘Trip to the Crypt’, which takes place on Friday and Saturday in the school and is suitable for 4-11 year olds as a fun Hallowe’en event in a safe environment, the school grounds have been decked out with ...
