The Galtee Harriers would like to sincerely thank all the landowners who allowed the hunt access to their land this hunting season especially during the testing weather conditions we experienced. Without such accommodating landowners hunting would not be possible. We would also like to thank the landowners who made it possible to hold our confined drag.

The Ruth Gorey Memorial Cup Drag was held on Sunday, February 24. Ruth was the life and soul of the hunt, and as secretary she was the driving force behind organising everything, from upcoming meets to socials. On any given Sunday, Ruth would arrive to the meet with a smile and a story and she could be put up on the most stubborn of horses.

Ruth would never let a horse get the better of her as she was so determined, and possibly because she was as stubborn as the horse! On one particular day she continued to jump a double drain with a broken ankle.

Ruth has left a huge void in the hunt that will never be filled. Not a days hunting goes by that she is not mentioned or remembered - ar dheis Dé go raibha hanam.

We would like to thank the Gorey family for the contribution of such a beautiful cup, fitting for such a beautiful person, and for the delicious soup for the drag.

The Galtee Harriers would also like to congratulate Mr Roger Geary on winning the Ruth Gorey Drag. It was a hard fought battle to the end with Mr John Reid and Mr Kevin Casey following close behind. The drag was a fantastic success and an event that Ruth would have been proud of.

Finally the hunt would like to thank Martin Casey, our dedicated huntsman, and the 'whipper in’s' and all who helped throughout the year to make it such a successful season.
