The Roches - Catherine, Patrick, Brigid (London), Donnacha (Mayo) and Olivia (Wales), all born and raised in Brigown, Mitchelstown, daughters and sons of Denis and the late Breda Roche, all reunited on Monday, 28th October, 2013 and joined forced for Temple Street Children’s University Hospital to participate in the 2013 Dublin Marathon.

The presentation of the cheque totalling €3,637.70 was made in Temple Street Children’s University Hospital and was presented to Anne Mc Gillivary, manager National Paediatric Craniofacial Centre & Cleft Lip and Palate Services by Donnacha and his sister Catherine (O’Farrell).

For Donnacha, it brought back a lot of memories on the day walking through the doors of Temple Street. Donnacha and his wife Oonagh only four years ago, were regulars in Temple Street, where their son D J was a patient. D J, who was born with a Bilateral Cleft Lip and sub mucous cleft palate, was operated on by Prof Michael Earley who Donnacha described as "the most gifted and talented man in his job in the whole world".

The funds raised by the Roche family will go a long way towards the work being done at the Cleft & Craniofacial Department.

Susan Bradley from the Temple Street fundraiser office congratulated Donnacha and Catherine along with the other sibling and also two other extended family members, Catherine’s husband Pat O’Farrell and their son Brian.

“Our aim is to help sick children by making their stay in hospital less distressing for them and their families. It’s thanks to your support and the support of others like you that we are able to achieve this," Ms Bradley said.

"Each year, we need to raise more that €5million to help us provide world class medical care to the 153,000 babies and children who come through our doors. Having people like you on board makes this possible."

The Roche family along with Temple Street, would personally like to thank everyone who sponsored them.
