Mitchelstown Fire Brigade has issued safety advice as heavy snow fall is expected in the coming days.
A weather warning from Met Eireann expects a blanket of snow to cover the country, with snowfall expected to be particularly heavy in exposed uplands areas.
Bob Dalton, station officer in Mitchelstown, said that road traffic collisions are a real risk in cold snaps and that people should be prepared for the danger.
“In these kind of conditions it is critical to stay at home and don’t go out unless it is absolutely unavoidable…” he said.
