Chief organiser, Richie Whelan, with the support of his dart playing friends, staged a very successful darts tournament in Ballyduff Upper last Saturday. Attracting players from Waterford and Tipperary, the fundraiser was held in The Log Cabin, who were very supportive of the initiative.

It was a long day for all concerned, with the action getting underway shortly after 2pm and continuing until 9pm. Overall, the event was a great success, with the organisation to benefit being the Gavin Glynn Foundation – this is the charity that did so much to assist local girl, Caroline Kenny.

According to Richie, the standard of throwing was very high, with some excellent ‘check outs’ during the course of the day. Player of the tournament was Tipperary’s number one rated thrower, Lorcan ‘The Laser’ O’Donovan, who is associated with the Katie Ryan’s darts team in Clonmel. Lorcan defeated an in form Jerry O’Hara, in a keenly contested singles final.

THANKS TO EVERYONE

Richie would like to thank everyone who contributed to the tournament’s success – The Log Cabin for hosting the event, the players and their very generous supporters.
