Mitchelstown man Sean Walsh is set to hang up his fire helmet for the last time this week after a 33 year career helping the people of the Avondhu region.
The firefighter spoke this week about how his career began and the dramatic moments that stood out in his time in the fire service.
Sean joined up in November, 1986 having always had a keen interest in the career of a fire fighter but only for his brother Seamus, he might not have made it.
“A vacancy came up but I missed the advert in the newspaper, but my brother spotted it and said it to me one of the days.
