Tribute was paid to Lismore vet Edward Lynch on the occasion of his retirement, at the recent meeting of Lismore Town Council.
Councillor Jimmy O'Gorman pointed out that the popular vet had served the community in a professional capacity for close to 40 years. In addition to his veterinarian work, he had contributed greatly to the social side of the town, Cllr. O'Gorman said.
Indeed Edward had served as MC for the town's 400th anniversary celebrations in May, slipping into costume and character as the Elizabethan adventurer and potato-discoverer, Sir Walter Raleigh to ably preside over the proceedings.
Clllr. O'Gorman also commended county council worker, Michael O'Donnell who retired recently, saying he was one of the longest serving council workers in the town. He'd kept the local cemetery and the town "immaculate", Cllr. O'Gorman said.
He felt thanks should be extended to both men for their work for the town. It was agreed to write to them, expressing those sentiments and wishing them well on their retirements.
