A new private residential care facility, set to begin operating in the coming weeks in the West Waterford village of Ballysaggart, has been the cause of concern for some residents in the area.
The facility, a former family home purchased by Co Kildare service provider Nua Healthcare, will house six service users and two live-in care staff when it opens.
Nua Healthcare are a private operator that provide a range of services for people with mild, moderate to severe and often co-morbid diagnosis and presentation such as Autism, Personality Disorder, Acquired Brain Injury, associated mental health and challenging behaviours.
Ballysaggart residents who say they are still shaken following the murder of 90 year old Paddy Lyons, claim they have not been told the purpose the property will be put to and are fearful as a result.
