Relief for retailers as shops reopen

Retailers have declared that they are delighted to reopen after Lockdown 2.0. Following what has been a frustrating period largely closed to the public, Tuesday brought a sigh of relief for many, allowing a vital window in the run in to Christmas.

Retailers who The Avondhu spoke to this week rejoiced at news that the small outlets have been given permission to open their doors again. 

Joe Hourigan of Today’s Man on Lower Cork Street, Mitchelstown and Liam Kent of 2Shoes on Upper Cork Street in the town, both reopened their doors on Tuesday as Ireland finally moved out of Level Five restrictions. 

Joe said that he was delighted to be back open and trading, moreso having only opened his new busines on the town’s  main thoroughfare earlier this year.

“It is good to be back, for the head and to get out of the house and we need to be back. I feel good about coming back and it is the right thing to do.
