The new structure will mean no charges will apply between the hours of 9-10am and 5-6pm as well as a 30 minute period of free parking before one has to purchase a valid 'pay and display' ticket.

This secured, it is now more important than ever that the business people and planners put their heads together and make an all-out effort to attract and retain more footfall to the town.

The chairperson of the local enterprise board has pointed out, and rightly so, that the commercial life of the town will not thrive until the current population (presently shy of 7,000) is significantly increased and expressed, once again, the need for a large-scale hotel.

More public and private housing is an urgent requirement and to this end, those in authority must find a speedy resolution to the ongoing issue with the Freshwater Pearl Mussel which threatens plans for any large-scale housing projects in the town.
