Planning permission was recently granted to Amarenco Solar Clykeel Limited for the development of a solar farm at Clykeel North, Rathcormac.
The application, originally submitted in September 2020, sought the development of a solar farm comprising of up to 27,690 photovoltaic panels on ground-mounted frames within a site area of approximately 15.18 hectares.
Permission was also sought for two single-storey inverter/transformer stations, one single storey delivery station, security fencing, CCTV and all associated ancillary development works.
A decision on the development had been delayed due to a request for ‘further information’ by Cork County Council, which related to the site entrance and visual impact.
