Some of Loreto's finest teamed up with a talented troupe from St Colman's College last weekend to stage an all-singing, all-dancing show entitled 'Raise Your Voice'.
Despite the presence on stage of numerous conservatively dressed clerics from Orders unknown, there was nothing restrained about this full blooded offering which kept all ages entertained.
Show organisers were fortunate to be able to draw on the expertise of operatic stalwarts, Valerie O'Leary and Deirdre Foley who are 'old hands' when it comes to greasepaint and spotlights. Amateur in name, every one of the performances was tightly choreographed, excellently produced and oozed professionalism.
If those in the front, middle and back rows were having a good time, the same applied to the young Transition Year students on stage who were full of unbridled enthusiasm and showed no signs of flagging, even after several very intensive nights. 'Raise Your Voice' took place in the recently renamed Palace Theatre in Fermoy and it's worth acknowledging the effort and hard work of the community youth centre staff who were the first to arrive and the last to leave after every show.
One satisfied patron described the show 'as a tonic' and it's hard to argue with that. To the entire cast, back stage personnel and everyone who assisted in any way, very well done on a splendid show!
