Another very special occasion in Mitchelstown
Work is ongoing in promoting the new brand and logo for Lismore. “We’ve been very surprised and delighted with the uptake on membership and the support being given to the project,” Mealla Fahey of Lismore Heritage Centre told The Avondhu this week.
At the recent Lismore Town Council meeting, Councillor John Heneghan enquired about the level of take up and it was undertaken to find out what the response had been like.
The competiton organised to devise a new brand and logo for the heritage town was a joint venture between Lismore Castle Arts and Gardens, Lismore House Hotel, the heritage centre and Lismore Town Council, all major stakeholders in the promotion and advertising of Lismore as a destination. With the assistance of Lismore Tidy Towns, Lismore Mochuda Development Company and local business people, it’s hoped to grow the number of visitors to increase revenue to the town and surrounding area.
GROWING THE BRAND
The local soccer club was the first community group to use the newly designed brand in conjunction with their logo. The brand is being made available to all community and voluntary groups to use in promotion of the area.
“Work on this project is ongoing and, as with any brand, it will take time to grow,” Mealla Fahey explained. The brand was featured in national and local press, she pointed out, and the competition between area colleges to come up with the new design has brought the name of Lismore and West Waterford to an audience not previously explored.
“All students involved were very impressed with the town and will be back to visit in the future and spread the word through their social media pages as well as word of mouth,” she said.
The Lismore Marketing Group are working with Red Heaven Design and the winner of the competition, Laura Keane from Waterford IT, in further promoting the brand. A website will be launched in the coming months with all the members listed under one banner.
