It was a case of ‘no pain – no monetary gain’ at a Lourdes Invalid Fund fundraiser held in Mitchelstown, with a host of volunteers putting themselves forward.

Popular Mitchelstown night spot, Willie Andies was the setting last Saturday night for a very successful waxing/shaving/dying/piercing fundraiser, in aid of the  Lourdes Invalid Fund.

NO PAIN - NO MONETARY GAIN

Most of the 'options' on offer meant experiencing a certain level of pain, however, fair play to the volunteers, they saw it through without complaining and in the process raised a substantial sum for this most deserving cause.

Colm Baker, Denny Murphy and Kathleen Finn got their hair dyed - the shaving/waxing/piercing brigade consisted of: Paddy Seery, Barry Murphy, Tom O'Flynn and Paddy Shanahan - Willie and Davy Keane got a very thorough waxing. Phil Kiely (Radiance), hairdresser Margaret Coughlan ( Mag's, Kilbehenny ) and piercing expert, Carla Walsh were on hand to do the needful. Maurice Walsh was the MC for the evening and D.J. Denny provided the music.

Dedicated individuals behind the venture are very grateful to those who put themselves forward for 'treatment' - they also want to thank the public who dug deep on the night. A number of local businesses  , including Clongibbon House , Abbey Pharmacy , The Hunter's Rest and Mary Casey , donated prizes for the raffle and overall, the event was a great success. Thanks too to DJ Dinny for the fab music and  Tommy and staff at the Willie Andies for being great hosts on the night .
