A musical collaboration between Fermoy native Joe Heffernan from Boherbue, his son Colin, John Dennehy and Danny Riordan, working under musical director Maura McAuliffe (music teacher in St Mary’s, Mallow) which resulted in the making of a charity CD, saw them hand over of a cheque to the value of €5,272 to Conor Counihan CEO, St Joseph’s Foundation Charleville on Friday last, 10th July.

"In 2010, we made a CD for Simon Community Cork entitled 'Song for Simon' so, following the success of that one, we decided last year to make a CD for St Joseph’s Charleville," Joe told The Avondhu.

"This CD, titled 'Song for St Joseph’s' was launched in November of last year at Corbett Court, Ballyhea. Mary, my wife and Danny’s wife Teresa, rallied in behind us and took on the organising of the CD launch and distribution of the CDs etc.

"Both CDs were recorded in my friend Brian O’Reilly’s Studio Fiona in Fermoy. Brian was extremely helpful and he also produced the CD," Joe said.

The CD contains such numbers as 'Isle of Inisfree' (Joe); 'You’re the Best Friend I Ever Had' (Danny); 'Ice Cream Man' (Colin); 'Ar Eireann Ní Nósain Cé Hí' (Joe); 'Barry and Dunne' (John); 'Things Have Changed' (Colin); 'The Rose of Mooncoin' (Joe); 'We Had It All' (Danny); 'You’ve Got to Hide your Love Away' (Colin)  and 'Slievenamon' (Joe). Artwork for the CD sleeve was provided by artist, Joseph Heffernan.
