Fermoy GAA Pitch & Putt Club were recently crowned as silver category winners in the Course of the Year competition by the Pitch & Putt Union of Ireland (PPUI) at their annual convention in Thurles, Tipperary.

Fermoy, who last won the award in 2006, beat off stiff competition and finished ahead of Inniskeen of Louth and Kilbeggan of Westmeath on the podium.

The result means Fermoy has been recognised by the PPUI as having the best course in Cork and the second best in Ireland, behind Royal Meath who were awarded first in the gold category.

Chairperson of the club, Joe Lillis, said it was a fantastic honour for the club and paid tribute to head groundskeeper John Richards and his staff, as well as Dave Waters and all committee members. Well done to the club on their achievement.
