The groundswell of support for Liam’s Lifts was very much in evidence at a very pleasant presentation at the Forge Bar in Fermoy recently.

At the Saint Patrick’s Day Punch-Up organised by Mitchelstown Rugby Club, Fermoy Town Councillor, Noel McCarthy showed that he is a force to reckoned, both in and out of the ring, and his chosen beneficiary was a very worthy cause, Liam’s Lifts.

Present for the occasion was the Chairperson of Mitchelstown Rugby Club, Lisa Sheehan who spoke of the commitment of every one in the club who helped to make the event such a great success. She also had fulsome praise for all those who took part in the event.

Accepting the cheque, Triona O’Flynn of Liam’s Lifts, thanked Noel and Lisa and indeed all the people who rally around in support of so many worthy causes. Liam’s Lifts is a community based transport service, which aims to solve the transport difficulties that members of the community face when they need to attend oncology appointments and treatments in Cork city. This service is provided on a voluntary basis by members of the community, who recognise the need for the service and want to help solve the problem.

The service is initially running in the Fermoy/Mitchelstown area, and as Triona explained, it is planned to extend the service throughout North Cork in the future. Anyone wishing to avail of the service provided by Liam’s Lifts can do so by calling 086-7257218 or by e-mail liamslifts@hotmail.com.
