As car owners across Ireland weigh-up whether to buy an electric vehicle, Ford launches Ford Power Promise for its new EV buyers, making it easy for drivers to make the switch for those 252 plates.

Results from a recent Ford survey of 5,000 drivers across Europe found that 25% of customers feel more uncertainty and complexity when buying an electric car; one out of every eight people find it too difficult to arrange charging at home; one third of respondents believe that electric vehicles take too long to charge; and over 30% of people are concerned about overall battery life. 1

Ford Power Promise gives drivers peace of mind when switching to new electric vehicle technology, making it easy to charge at home, and save time and money.

Ireland Ford Power Promise

  • Free home electric car charger with standard installation2  from ChargeGuru (at a cost of €10) to save time and money going electric, so drivers can fill up at home and start each day ready to go.
  • Eight-year, 160,000 km high voltage component and battery warranty for peace of mind.
  • Free-of-charge five-year service plan to reassure you on low maintenance costs.
  • Free-of-charge five-year towing assistance that won’t leave you stranded on the side of the road.
  • Access to more than 750 charging locations with 2,127 Irish public charging points via Ford’s BlueOval™ Charge Network.

  • Dedicated customer care.

Lisa Brankin, Ford UK Chair and Managing Director of Ford of Britain and Ireland said: “Switching into an electric vehicle for the first time can be a daunting prospect for some drivers, so Ford has decided to simplify and de-stress the entire ownership experience by launching a one-of-a-kind promise to new electric car buyers. This commitment from Ford aims to entice new buyers into the exciting world of electric vehicles and stimulate additional demand for our freshest-ever lineup of electric passenger cars.”

To charge at home during the EV Smart drive charging window (2am-6am) a customer can add up to 30kW of battery power for €2.26 (using a 7.5kW charger). To fully charge a new Puma Gen-E car overnight on the EV Smart Drive will cost approximately €12.26, compared to spending €58 to €70 on petrol.

Powered by ChargeGuru, the offer lets each driver choose either a state-of-the-art Sync Energy or Hypervolt* charger for home installation, worth €1,299. To redeem the offer, drivers are encouraged to contact their local dealership, where their Ford expert will submit the request on their behalf. ChargeGuru will then provide charger options directly to the customer, and once the order is confirmed, installation is scheduled within 2-4 weeks. For Irish customers to benefit from the free €10 charger offer, they must apply for the SEAI Home Charger Grant in advance of installation works being carried out.

Denis Watling, UK Managing Director at ChargeGuru UK & Ireland, said: “As a leading provider of electric vehicle (EV) charging solutions throughout Europe, ChargeGuru is on a mission to make EV charging simple for everyone. We have already installed hundreds of EV chargers for Ford’s commercial customers, via our existing partnership with Ford Pro. So, expanding our partnership with Ford to enable their private customers throughout Ireland to charge their electric Fords was a logical and exciting next step.”

Ford’s offer is applicable across all of Ford’s electric passenger vehicle line up in Ireland including the New All-Electric Explorer, 3 New All-Electric Capri, 4 New All-Electric Puma Gen-E, 5 Mustang Mach-E, 6 all-electric E-Tourneo Custom 7, E-Transit, Transit Custom PHEV (excl.
