Posters being taken down maliciously – Cllr O’Keeffe

It emerged this week that election posters for Fianna Fail councillor and local election candidate Kevin O’Keeffe, are being taken down maliciously.

Cllr O’Keeffe told The Avondhu this week that he has had reports of his posters being removed in areas of Watergrasshill, Fermoy and Mitchelstown.

He added that in some places, they have been removed twice and he hastened to add that these are not being carelessly pulled down, but instead are being properly cut down by people ‘maliciously’.

He said that it is a shame to think that in a democratic society, election posters cannot be left alone.

Cllr O’Keeffe added that while he has a sense of humour and doesn’t mind if people draw on posters, this is different and he has reported the incidents to the Gardai.

He is also concerned that the posters might end up ‘somewhere else’ after the elections. While his team will have made every effort to remove the posters after the election, these rogue posters might be somewhere else without their knowledge, he said.
