Management and staff of 'Cheers' in Fermoy weclomed the Sam Maguire and Brendan Martin Cups to their popular establishment last Friday evening.
The most sought after pieces of silverware in Gaelic football (the Brendan Martin Cup is presented to the winners of the All-Ireland senior ladies football championship) were polished to perfection and took pride of place in the MacCurtain Street bar. To complete the set, victorious Fermoy U21 football captain, Seanie Shanahan brought along the North Cork championship cup.
Sam Maguire is particularly closely guarded and getting it to come so far south was an achievement in itself. Hopefully, it's a sign of things to come and with any bit of luck the natural order will be restored before the year is out.

Last weekend's 'cups night' is just one of many attractions at this busy licenced premises which is gearing up for another hectic couple of weeks. Following on from an earlier table quiz in aid of St Patrick's Community Hospital, Fermoy, Paul McNulty and his team are preparing to host a repeat fixture on Thursday 18th April - everyone welcome.
