Amarenco Solar have submitted another planning application to Cork County Council for the development of a solar farm in Clykeel North, Rathcormac.
This solar farm would comprise of up to 27,690 photovolatic panels on ground mounted frames.
The development is to be set up on a 15.8 hectare site and would include construction of two single storey inverters, a delivery station, security fencing, CCTV, and all associated ancillary works.
EXPANSION
Amarenco is the largest renewable energy project developer in the Irish market and has expanded steadily, with solar farms across Munster in recent years.
A previous application, reported on by The Avondhu in early August, saw Amaerenco Solar apply for a similar development in the same area.
That application sought permission for a much larger development, comprising of 115,000 photovoltaic panels, however this was deemed an ‘incomplete application’ by Cork County Council.
In 2017 Amarenco received planning permission to construct eight new solar farms around Munster. In 2018, a further two farms were approved planning in the Castlelyons area.
Amarenco chairman and former Bord Gáis chief, John Mullins, planned to expand again following a 2019 subsidy scheme for renewable energy.
