Fire brigade and ambulance personnel were called to a house fire at a premises at St James’ Place in Fermoy last Monday morning.

The fire occurred in a basement office which resulted in a lot of fire damage and smoke damage.

The owner of the property said that it was only when he went to answer the door to a courier, that he noticed the smoke in the lobby and then became aware of the fire in the office.

Luckily all the doors were closed which contained the flames.

Emergency services were quickly on the scene and the construction workers who were working in the property next door were evacuated for safety reasons but luckily, nobody was harmed in the incident.

There were also reports of a vehicle on fire near Watergrasshill on the Fermoy side at approximately 2pm last Thursday, February 15.
