Brendan Dunlea (The Man), Michelle Hurley (Mona) and Sean Ahern (JPW King) in ‘The Gigli Concert’ by Tom Murphy, opening this Friday at The Village Arts Centre, Kilworth.

Regarded by many as Tom Murphy’s finest work, ‘The Gigli Concert’ is the choice this year for last year’s All-Ireland winning group, The Palace Players.

It was Murphy who gave them the platform last year to take the top honours in amateur drama in Ireland when they staged his ‘Conversations On A Homecoming’ and they are putting their faith in ‘The Gigli Concert’ in the hope that it might once again take them all the way to Athlone in May.

‘The director (Liam Howard) has assembled three of last year’s cast for this production. Sean Ahern is tasked with the mammoth part of dynamatologist JPW King who believes that ‘anything is possible’.

His task is a big one however, when The Irish Man (Brendan Dunlea) walks in claiming he wants to sing like the great Italian tenor Gigli. Throw King’s mistress Mona (Michelle Hurley) into the mix and a stunning night’s theatre awaits you.

Please note, the play will run this weekend and next (Friday to Sunday inclusive) but no performance on Thursday 25th as already advertised.

All tickets on this Friday just €8 (€12/10 all other nights), booking at usual outlets or call 025-32227 or 087-6492514.
