The soon to be launched Fermoy Text Alert Service has grown to more than 220 members, ahead of the service going live later this month.

Application forms can be collected from and returned to either the Fermoy Community Resource Centre, Shinnick’s Shop, and Carry Out Emmet Street.

PRO Tadhg O’Donovan said the raison d’etre of the text alert service is to facilitate a working relationship between the public and An Garda Síochána to report and prevent crime in the area.

It is hoped that the number of people subscribed to the service will grow to at least 300 by the start date. Mr O’Donovan added that an official launch night will take place after the service goes live, towards the end of the month.
